Leave the modern world behind for a day or a few, while you travel back 800 years to a bit of medieval England, surrounded by the Wayne National Forest and just seven miles from beautiful Hocking Hills. Ravenwood Castle sits atop the highest hill in scenic Vinton County''s Swan township. 115 acres of forest and large rock formations surround the castle which reached by a half-mile private road.

Twelfth-century Norman in style, Ravenwood Castle''s crenelated towers contain the guest rooms and suites, all with elegant private baths which include garden or whirlpool tubs. Most rooms or suites offer a private balcony or deck and all have a gas fireplace with antique mantel. All have antique stained glass windows and/or lamps. Each has king, queen or two queen beds and good reading lamps. There is also a year-round Medieval Village of picturesque cottages with whirlpools and gas fireplaces; and in summer additional small "Celtic Legends" cottages, as well as two Gypsy Wagons for unique family camping.

Breakfast is served by candlelight between 8:30 - 10 a.m. in the Castle''s Great Hall dining room. In summer, guests can dine on the deck or terrace overlooking the formal garden. Guests enjoy a hearty full breakfast with a number of special recipes that have inspired several Ravenwood cookbooks!

Dinner follows Old English tradition and menus, and is served like a dinner party by candlelight at 7 p.m. in the Castle''s Great Hall dining room. We plan the menu ahead, but happily accommodate special needs and requests with prior notice. There are occasional special event theme dinners with historic menus, and even costumes! Outside dinner guests are very welcome by prior reservation. Lunch, with a traditional British tea room menu, is served five days a week from May through October. Several quaint little gift shops full of unique imported merchandise are open the same hours as the Tea Room.
