Cromwell Manor Inn, the premier inn of Orange County and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers accommodations in either an elegant 1820 mansion or a charming Colonial cottage dating to 1764. Nestled on 7 acres of lawns and gardens, our hilltop position offers spectacular views of Storm King mountain and the Hudson Highlands. Knowledgeable, friendly staff can help you plan your itinerary, whether you''re looking for historic landmarks, spa services, outdoor activities, or world-class shopping. Enjoy afternoon tea on the spacious porch, indulge in our signature chocolate chip cookies (baked fresh several times daily!), or relax with a massage in front of the fire. "Highly recommended"...USA Today; "A fantastic B&B!"...CBS Early Show.
The Manor House contains nine guest rooms, as well as the breakfast room and parlor. Rooms are elegant and spacious and furnished with antiques and fine reproductions. Many have wood-burning fireplaces. The Oliver Cromwell Suite, our most luxurious room, includes a double-Jacuzzi and a StairMaster. High-speed wireless Internet service is available free of charge. The parlor contains many musical instruments, including a piano, for those who wish to play. One wheelchair-accessible room is available. The Chimneys Cottage is enhanced by the original woodwork, including beamed ceilings and wide-plank floors, with a charming country ambiance. The two rooms on the first floor have fireplaces. One of these has a sitting room, perfect for small parties, and the other has an antique claw-foot soaking tub. On the second floor is a two-bedroom unit ideal for families or couples traveling together. While most of our guests are seeking a romantic getaway, several rooms can accommodate more than two travelers. Well-behaved children older than 6 are welcome.
Awaken to the scent of freshly-baked muffins and coffee. Weather permitting, you will dine on the screened veranda overlooking the gardens. Breakfast has multiple courses, and is served at your table. Hudson Valley Baked Apples are a wonderful appetizer treat on weekends. Your entree may be Caramel-glazed French Toast, German Baked Eggs, Belgian Waffles with fresh blueberry sauce, or Eggs Benedict. Fresh fruit, homemade baked goods, yogurts, and cereals are always available. We are happy to accommodate special needs with advanced notice. While we cannot prepare kosher meals, we are able to help support your commitment to keep kosher. Breakfast may be served in your room at an additional charge.
While we do not offer dinner at the Inn, except by special arrangement, we are happy to recommend several local restaurants. Our first suggestion is always Il Cena Colo, an outstanding Northern Italian restaurant. This is an exceptional dining experience, which receives rave reviews from our guests. Forget the printed menu and choose from the specials, which may include pasta with truffles, osso bucco, red snapper, or other Tuscan specialties. The wine list is extensive, a veritable Who''s Who of Italian wines. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, without being irritating. Many people claim this is the best restaurant at which they have ever eaten. Zagat-recommended.
West Point Military Academy, Storm King Art Center, Dia:Beacon, Brotherhood Winery, and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets are all within a 15-minute drive from our doorstep, and are all very popular with guests. Storm King Art Center is a museum that celebrates the relationship between sculpture and nature. Five hundred acres of landscaped lawns, fields and woodlands provide the site for postwar sculptures by internationally renowned artists. At Storm King, the exhibition space is defined by sky and land. Unencumbered by walls, the subtly created flow of space is punctuated by modern sculpture. The grounds are surrounded by the undulating profiles of the Hudson Highlands, a dramatic panorama integral to the viewing experience. The sculptures are affected by changes in light and weather, so no two visits are the same. Concerts and special events are scheduled during summer. If you are fortunate to be here on a summer Sunday, the free outdoor concerts at West Point are a delight. Pack a picnic and a bottle of wine and enjoy the evening. We can assist with arrangements with prior notice.
